On the afternoon of January 18th, Mrs. Tong Thi Phong, member of Politburo, Deputy Standing Chairwoman of National Assembly came to work with the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs (CEMA). Attending the working session, there are: Nguyen Duc Hai, member of the Central Executive Committee, member of National Assembly Standing Committee, President of Financial – Budget Committee of National Assembly; leader of some National Assembly’s Committees. One of the activities in the Commendation Ceremony for the outstandingly excellent ethnic minority pupils, university students (DTTS) in 2017 launched by CEMA is Tong Thi Phong, member of Politburo, Deputy Standing Chairwoman of National Assembly met 161 outstandingly excellent ethnic minority pupils, university students at Parliament.

On September 18th, 2017, Thai Nguyen city, the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs associated with Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, UN-REDD program in Vietnam and ILO launched the Conference sharing experience in ethnic tasks between ASEAN nations with the subject: “Harmonious development among culture, environment and economy in mountainous and ethnic minority area”.

On the morning of June 13, at the Committee of the Ethnic Minorities, PhD Phan Van Hung, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, presided a seminar to build outlines for the project "Supporting ethnic minorities to promote the application of information technology for socio- social order and security in ethnic minority areas of Vietnam ". On December 31st, 2016, the Prime Minister enacted Decision No. 2561/QD-TTg approving Scheme “Increase the role of influential individuals in the ethnic minority area”. This decision aim at increasing the propaganda, promoting the role and executing regulations, policies to influential individuals in the ethnic minority area, contributing to the ethnic tasks, policies of Party, policies and law of Government and building the Great National Unity.

From August 3rd to 4th, 2017, the Minister, Chairman Do Van Chien attended the opening ceremony of the Culture and Sports Week of the Northeast and attended the investment promotion conference in Tien Yen (Quang Ninh province).
