Overview of the conference

Attending the event included Vice Chairwoman of the GCRA Trần Thị Minh Nga, leaders from the provincial Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs and 140 delagtes representing the management board and representatives of belief establisments, practitioners of traditional belief activities, and prestigious people in Lang Son province.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman Trần Thị Minh Nga said that belief and religion are important elements in the cultural life of the Vietnamese people, form the spiritual foundation for cultural conduct and community relations.

According to the Vice Chairwoman, as of August 2025, Vietnam has about 80,000 belief establishments. More than 35,000 of them had a representative or a management board, accounting for nearly half of the total. About 70% of belief establishments had registered their belief activities under the Law on Belief and Religion.

She added that the National Assembly adopted on April 23, 2026 the revised Law on Belief and Religion, which will take effect on January 1, 2027. The new law contains many new provisions in accordance with belief and religious activities in Vietnam.

During the event, delegates were briefed on the new points of the 2026 Law on Belief and Religion, including belief and religious activities in cyberspace, the reduction of administrative procedures, stronger digital transformation in the field of belief and religion, etc. They were also updated on the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws on belief and religion, as well as the current situation of belief activities.

The event also allowed exchanges and discussion between representatives of local authorities and participants about practical issues relating religious practices in the locality.
